Need to Read (N2R) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to transforming early childhood literacy across Central Florida. We invest in children ages infant to five by giving families the tools, books, and training necessary to build strong preliteracy and literacy skills.

Through community partnerships, Title I school collaborations, interactive literacy events, and neighborhood reading corners, we bring educational resources directly into the homes that need them most. Our approach is simple yet powerful: equip parents, inspire children, and ignite a lifelong love for reading.

HOW WE MAKE AN IMPACT

In underserved communities, many children enter school already behind. With 85% of young learners lacking early exposure to language-rich environments, the literacy gap begins long before kindergarten even starts. Low literacy leads to long-term challenges—poverty, unemployment, poor health, and decreased lifetime income. But we can change this trajectory by empowering families early.
